Junior Design Project Coordinator (Junior Engineer/ Apprenticeship Opportunity)

Are you a junior engineer, school leaver, or apprentice looking to build a career in design, coordination, and technical engineering environments?

We’re working with a well-established international engineering business specialising in building services, HVAC systems, and technical product design. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced design and project team, where you’ll gain hands-on experience, training, and exposure to real engineering projects.

What you’ll be doing

As a Junior Design Project Coordinator, you’ll support the full lifecycle of engineering design projects, helping deliver high-quality technical solutions to customers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the end-to-end design process from concept through to completion
  • Assisting with engineering designs, technical drawings, and project quotations
  • Producing and updating specifications (spec breaks) and documentation
  • Working closely with customers and internal teams to translate requirements into practical solutions
  • Ensuring projects meet building regulations, compliance standards, and customer expectations
  • Maintaining accurate project records and documentation (GDPR awareness)
  • Providing technical and product support to stakeholders
  • Supporting senior engineers and project leaders with day-to-day coordination tasks

Essential skills

  • Strong interest in engineering, design, or construction / building services
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Excel and Office tools
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • High attention to detail and organisation skills
  • Positive, motivated attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
  • Ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Exposure to CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar)
  • Interest or experience in HVAC systems / mechanical engineering / building services
  • Awareness of technical standards (e.g., NHBC or construction regulations)
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Dynamics 365)
  • Additional European language skills (a bonus in international environments)

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) / GCSEs (A–C / 9–4)*
  • Or currently studying / interested in an engineering apprenticeship
  • No extensive experience required – full training provided
